Due to a mosquito, the Zika virus is talking a lot about it right now. How is it transmitted? What are the risks for future mothers? What are the symptoms and can we protect ourselves? The point in quiz.
Question (1/10)
Zika virus is transmitted by mosquitoes
Right wrongReply
That's right, but not just any mosquito. It is the tiger mosquito or female Aedes aegypti mosquito, already involved for dengue fever, yellow fever and chikungunya.
The disease is transmitted through a mosquito bite. If a mosquito bites an animal or a human infected with the virus, it becomes contaminant in turn in the next 3 to 10 days and can transmit the virus to another human by pricking.
Once the virus is present, if the person is bitten by a mosquito-tiger in turn within 3 to 10 days after the infective bite, it can transmit the virus. And so on.
Some cases of sexual transmission between humans have been established as well.
